About Stoke Park Situated on 600 acres of glorious undulating heathland, just south of Oxford city, Frilford Heath is built on a sandy subsoil this combined with the latest equipment and modern maintenance schedules enables the Club to present the courses to the finest playing standards all year round.
Frilford's Red course was designed by five-times Open champion JH Taylor, whose other courses include Royal Birkdale and Royal Mid-Surrey. We continue to attract major amateur events organised by the Royal and Ancient, English Golf Union and British and English Ladies Golf Association with most recently the England v France match in 2008, our centenary year.
We are pleased to announce the 2012 William Hunt Trilby Tour Grand Final will be held at the Luxurious Stoke Park on 16 August 2012. Each of the Regional Champions along with the 9 runners up from each event will be invited to battle it out to decide our National Amateur Champion. Stoke Park is where the Trilby Tour started, playing host to the inaugural pro event in 2007. Along with playing a prominent role in the origins of the Trilby Tour, Stoke Park has also graced the silver screen on numerous occasions, featuring in films such as Layer Cake and James Bond’s Gold Finger.  Stoke Park is set among 350 acres of glorious parkland, lakes, historic gardens and monuments created over the past one thousand years. It is the perfect place to play sport and enjoy life in a friendly atmosphere. It provides a unique combination of the traditions of an exclusive members' club and the best of today's sporting, leisure and entertaining facilities, in one of the most convenient locations in Britain, only 35 minutes from central London.  The Golf course, known as Stoke Poges, was designed by Harry Shapland Colt. It was opened in July 1909 and received immediate acclaim:  "If there were no palatial clubhouse and no beautiful gardens and grounds, the course itself would take a great deal of beating anywhere within thirty miles of London. Colt, to whom belongs the credit of designing it, has scored a great success and his reputation as a green architect, already high, will be greatly enhanced by this, the lastest of his workds." (Golf Illustrated, 1909).  "It does have Colt's finest single hole, the seventh, which was the inspiration for Augusta National's notorious sixteenth." (Today's Golfer, 1992).  In 2006, Golf World selected Stoke Park as one of the "Top 100 Course in the World". Stoke Park also offers a grass and all-weather range, pitching and chipping areas and putting green. A new indoor teaching academy studio and outdoor teaching facilities further enhance your experience.     Pre Championship Qualifying Events [GOLDEN TICKET]  Missed your chance to enter the 2012 Trilby Tour, or just fancy another shot?
