About Marriott Sprowston Manor Situated on 600 acres of glorious undulating heathland, just south of Oxford city, Frilford Heath is built on a sandy subsoil this combined with the latest equipment and modern maintenance schedules enables the Club to present the courses to the finest playing standards all year round.
Frilford's Red course was designed by five-times Open champion JH Taylor, whose other courses include Royal Birkdale and Royal Mid-Surrey. We continue to attract major amateur events organised by the Royal and Ancient, English Golf Union and British and English Ladies Golf Association with most recently the England v France match in 2008, our centenary year.
The Trilby Tour held the 2012 Championship of Norfolk at Marriott Sprowston Manor. With tall oak trees lining the drive to the stately 16th century manor house, Sprowston Manor exudes a historic charm and famous Marriott service and is surrounded by The Manor Course is and one of Marriott's 13 European premier golf venues. La Fontana is an indulgent spa that soothes and relaxes by a tropical pool. For extraordinary dining, the award-winning, the two AA Rosette THE Restaurant 1559 and THE Bar 1559 provides a treat for the palate, while the contemporary ZEST Cafe Bar & Grill offers casual fare with view of the 18th green. At day's end, retreat to an elegantly appointed guest room, with its plush new bedding. The Course The par 71, USGA specified course was completely redesigned by Ross McMurrey who, redesigned two holes around that time at the Celtic Manor in preparation for the Ryder Cup 2010. Since then the course has truly matured to create a spectacular backdrop for a perfect game. We have hosted two Europro event. We pride ourselves in winter golf, the course offers 12 months playability and we never have temporate tee's or greens. The off course facilities including luxury changing rooms, modern teaching academy with GASP tuition suite and Norfolk's largest driving range.
