Congratulations Tom! You've beaten over 100 players to be crowned the Champion of Ireland- tell us what's running through your head at this moment?
It feels magnificent! The feelings great, it's something I wanted to do all of my life. A huge achievement, I'm delighted!

The feelings great, it's something I wanted to do all of my life.

What made you enter the TT?
About 3 years ago I saw John Lynch win it on Sky Sports and I said wow! I would like to enter that, it was one of my friends birthday so I entered him and myself...and that's how it has come about. I have played in a few TT events.

What made you choose Slieve Russell?
It wasn't too far from me and it was the only event Ireland, however I am coming over next to caddy for a good friend of mine who is playing at Goodwood.

I worked on a couple of swing changes to get myself ready for the day. It seems to have all paid off

Tell us about your day. How did you feel you played?
Last year I made it to the international final play-off. I thought is there anyway I can improve, I worked on a couple of swing changes to get myself ready for the day. It all seems to have paid off, I gave myself the best possible chance.

Have you played in many other Amateur championships?
Other than previous Trilby Tour events, just at my home club.

How did you cope with the cameras on the day?
A couple of years ago I found it daunting and last year it made me very nervous. This year I was still nervous but more excited and dealt with it a lot better. I was nervous but it didn't affect my thoughts, I actually thought I played better than I thought I would, the cameras didn't really bother me this year.

Where is your trophy now?
I developed one of the pictures of the day and its sitting alongside my trophy on the mantel piece. I've also put a picture of me and my clubs on Facebook as well!

Did you ever think you would get this far?
Well.... I wasn't sure if I could win it or not I was pretty confident I would make it to the finals at the Buckinghamshire through the top 10, but you need luck on the day as well. If you don't have luck, you won't win!

What are your thoughts on the final?
I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to give it my best shot, hopefully I will have some luck behind me. I cant wait!

What would winning the TT Championship mean to you?
It would be the biggest achievement in my sporting life, I play a lot of sport, rugby and football but this would be the biggest for me!

Tell me about your background?
I got in to golf when I was about 12, a couple of my friends were playing and I thought I would like to have a go. It went from there and I just started playing at my local golf club. When I started playing golf it was seen as a bit of a snobbish game, you wouldn't go telling everybody as they would start saying you a snob, or it's a woman's game. It's great to see that now everyone plays golf, there is no stopping it. There's no longer a stigma attached to it, well not like there used to be!

How did you find the clothing?
I loved the clothing! I found it very comfortable and great quality, I loved the belt which just finishes off the outfit!

What has been your greatest achievement so far?
Having two great daughters.

Describe yourself in a sentence?
Gentle and humble

What's your motto in life?
Take each day as it comes.

Who is your golf hero?

Luke Donald, he's small and doesn't hit it too far like myself but he has achieved a lot.

Last words for William Hunt?
I want to thank him very much for coming up with an amateur golf tournament which is the best in the world and that I look forward every year to playing in the event. He is an absolute gentlemen, always has a moment for everybody. He is one of life's characters and good people!
