  • A marvellous experience. Great to play with Colin and Mark. Good golfers and superb playing partners. I was gutted for Colin missing out ontge top 10 by 3/4 inch. The play off was a tremendous experience and an exercise in managing panic!

After a few weeks of putting woes it was so reassuring to make a few.

Biggest worry wasstanding over a 2 inch putt that William had asked me to mark rather than make and then thinking that if I missed that to win the event then I would have to retire for good!

Thanks to Foxhills, to William for making these a particularly exciting and scary experience and to Katy for making me enter and JP for stepping in when Kat couldn't caddy.

    Stoke Park here we come!

Good company with David Hughes and Jason finbra, who both played well. Foxhills is quality, but hope the course dries out as very wet at present. Look forward to another practice round on Monday, then let the fun begin.

  • I had my practice round at Foxhills today - loved it.

I shot 88 (32 points off full handicap of 12) off the Whites in blustery conditions. I only had one hole when I didn't make at least a bogey (17th). I did a Westy and hit a ball high into a tree on the right and it didn't drop back down.

The greens were very true - it was harder to miss than hole it from 4 feet. However, the greens were relatively slow and patchy in areas. I'm not sure whether they'll get a haircut for the big day - maybe not, with the patchy bits and the amount of traffic they'll get on the day.

If it's played off the Yellows it should be a fair bit easier although the 3/4 handicap will counter that.

Due to the wind, I hit nothing less than a 4i off the tee. I think my main club off the tee will end up being the 3Hy.

The fairways were virtually perfect with very few divot scars.

Word of warning on the 1st - don't put it left because there are loads of balls from the driving range there and it can be extremely difficult to identify you ball. I really hope that's tidied up before the TT hits town as it's a bit unfair.

The 6th could be a tricky par 3 if played off the Whites because it will be very tight on the right side - a problem for drawers.

There are more left-to-right holes than I expected. The faderers will feel more comfortable here than on most other courses.

The 18th is a tremendous finishing hole. There was a rooftop wedding reception overlooking the green, so it was a good warm-up for the pressure of the TT. I passed the test with a neat up and down from just off the front of the green! #Confidence!

I'm really looking forward to the day now and getting familiar with the whole complex was as important to me as playing the course. I will now feel far more comfortable in the surroundings on the day.

    Happy Golfing Weekend all!

Game plan will be crucial!! 3 weeks to go!!!! AAHHHH!!!!!

  • What a great day Friday, at my charity golf day to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. 55 teams of 4 players, and a fantastic figure of £12,000 raised bringing the total raised in 10 years to £90,000. Now to focus on Foxhills, July 9th practice round.

  • OK you Foxhills TTers - lets hear what you guys are up to...practicing or just meditating on good golf! The days are ticking by and ever closer is the day of reckoning - who will perform and who will crumble? Experience v youth...who dares wins on the day, or is it patience and post a good score and hope!!! Will we succeed or will we fall - crying in our beer as we watch the leader board relegate us to anonymity! The pressure is mounting, expectations are high...we know others have been before us - Trevose, FRilford, Old Thorns....tommorrow - ??? Sleep easy fellow warriors - til we do battle on the fairways of Foxhills!!

  • Played practice round at Longcross last Thursday in between trips to the BMW at Wentworth.
Great sunshine and welcome at Foxhills, pity my golf did not match the setting.

Very tight layout with extremely thick rough only 4 feet off the fairway then trees which it is impossible to do anything other than pitch out from - forget the driver when I return - greens poor although local members assured us they would improve.

Tine to practice straight tee shots !
