  • Dear William - please can you make the shirts longer in the body for us bigdogs ? I can hardly tuck mine in my trousers - the missus says lose weight but I just love my food and beer is a must - us "ordinary guys" doing "extraordinary things" does come with the cost of "extraordinary bodies"!!! Fatboy sizes are a must........how do you get into yours?!!!

  • Some good points there Gareth but too many assumptions.....simple answers for me are - yes, they do make holing more putts easier - that's why they are being used more and more, when a 14 year old amateur makes the cut at Augusta and is using one it rather implies that his coach is telling him so......and when Mr Els wins an open outta the blue when he has confessed to putting being his problem???

  • Ask yourselves just a few simple questions. 1. Does a belly putter actually assist you in holing more putts than a shorter putter? Answer - No, you still have to pick the right line and pick the right

Played Worsley Park in a practice round 3rd May, nice course but poor condition.Greens hollow tined, bunkers never raked and divots everywhere!! Lots of work to do in a month for the greenkeepers to get it ready for the TT visit.

If so was this a penalty???? I said I thought it was but how does one define "pressing down" - any help out there???

  • Just got back from hollins hall today you must if you have not played it go just to plan your way round gents a lot of hidden hills which you don't see until you get to them most holes don't need driver as you will end up in trouble and if you are thinking of going wait a week or 2 because the greens are very poor I just hope that they get chance to sort them out but with only a month or so to go

  • Just played my second practice round at Worsley Park on Tuesday. Weather was fantastic just hope it's like that on the day. Have to say I was dissapointed with the state of the course as it was in awful shape. Couldnt really get an idea of how the greens are running as they had been hollow tined and were very bare in places. Just hope its right for June 5th.

  • Well my clothing arrived yesterday all ready for st Pierre. Top looks great and is a great fit. Trouser again look great but when I put them on I can only just do the button up. A quick jump on the scales and notice I'm a stone heavier than last year. So the diet begins I know the trousers are adjustable 2" but I now have a great incentive to lose the weight. Game in good shape though

  • So Hollins hall over a BH with plenty of sunshine and slight wind Course conditions - Tees - Need a bit of attention. Fairways - in good nick Rough - Grown so avoid Greens = Ropey to say the least. Have been treated so need to be looked after before the big event. Groundstaff have a job on their hands. Caddy - Hills are a struggle on certain green to tee holes so plenty of fluid needed haha Anyway - Sunday we played from the Yellows and I played like Mr Kipling but shot 30 points. Monday played from Whites and scored 31 with 2 blobs. Room for improvement and greens that roll properly and there will be some big scores. The sun shining down made a massive difference. Oh and the outfit has arrived - Dapper is all I can say, quality produce WH, quality!!

  • Hi to all TT players who are playing at Hanbury Manor, i am not playing there but on another course but thought i would let you know about the course as i played it on monday and tuesday this week in a speical deal with dinner and breakfast for £130 which was well worth the money at such a great venue,if you are staying the night before you will be really happy with all the facilitys and the rooms are great as well, drinks are not cheap but you except that at a place like this, anyway lets get on with the course and you will all love it i bet. We played off the yellows which i found if you could hit a straight drive you would not find it to much trouble from tee to green,BUT the greens are not easy and are fast but true to putt on so i will bet WH will make sure some pin postions will be very hard to play too. It will be a totally different game off the whites as that would add another 35 to 50 yards off the tee and then off the blues you are looking at another 65 to 80 yards off the tee which makes the course a totally different game and i wish you the best of luck with. The first hole is a great hole to start with as you can go left or right off the tee then hit onto the green,or for the really big hitters you can go for the green in 1 off the tee. If i was hanbury manor i would invest in putting a pond to stop people going for the green in 1 as all you have in your way is a small bunker on the hill and no deep rough behind it so if you dont make the green you still will have a shot to the green, but i am being very picky about that. All the other holes are nice and some going over water which will be good for the viewers on sky sports and rouges gallery will have plenty of shots to show at the end i bet :) a couple of par 3s are not much to look at but the greens make up for that and thats just me wanting 18 outstanding holes. Last of all i would say from pro shop and putting greens to 1st tee is about 5 to 10 minutes walk so make sure you give your self plenty of time to get to the first tee as you dont want to miss out do you ... So at the end, the course the hotel staff the hotel and everything about Hanbury Manor was first class. If you have any questions you would like to ask please feel free to ask and i will get back to you if i can help.

  • Trying to work out the logistics....how many matches need to be won to get to the finals?? Got a bye in the pairs first round and play my singles first round next week. Also whats the time period for getting the matches played, 4 weeks? if the finals are in sept then that's 5 months so is it 4 rounds to win to get there? I suppose that could mean getting drawn away at a course some distance away? Hope holiday plans don't cause a problem or the missus will be going on her own!!!!! :)
    groups.wall 18 days ago
  • Just 35 days to go - the TT is nearly here, another explosion into the world of amateur golf and the hopes and dreams of 1,000 + golfers will be made or broken on the fairways and greens...its getting close and the excitement is building! The TT outfits starting to arrive, practice rounds being booked, qualifiers being played, Trilby Tourians popping up on driving ranges honing their games! Emenim's 8mile comes to mind..one shot!!!! St Pierre beckons, 4th July, look out Wales the TT is coming to getcha!!!! :)

  • Hi guys! Just noticed Mark Keevil 2011 champ of Cornwall uses a belly putter!! He was unlucky not to win the 2012 defence of his title.....wonder what he thinks of the debate, will it change his approach?
The beauty of the game is that we amateurs play the same game as the pros so if the ban is enforced then what will the TT do? Mr Hunt will have a big decision to make and it may not be very well received??
If your getting this Mark we would love to hear your views!!
    groups.wall 18 days ago
  • Anyway....where are these "big boyz", they don't seem to grace us with their banter! Probably too busy practicing? Watching Leadbetter videos? Setting up their twitter accounts? Or maybe watching episodes of their previous glories? It's all history lads, anything can happen on the day - still, respect to them as they've been and conquered while us mere mortals dream!!! Got a feeling this years TT will see some new gladiators rise up - "strength and honour" as Maximus would say Rory - STRENGTH AND HONOUR!!!
