Bearwood Lakes is an oasis of calm and beauty set in the midst of one of the most commercially vibrant areas of Europe. With a backdrop of mature oak, lime and beech and surrounded by Scots pine, it's undulating terrain rolls along the banks of Bearwood Lake, with dramatic views of the whole Bearwood Estate. 

The course is maintained to the highest possible standards by an exceptionally dedicated and knowledgeable green keeping team using the most modern equipment. The finest bent and rye grasses, coupled with the latest irrigation systems have been used to provide superior playing surfaces all year round. 

Recognised as the finest inland course to be built in England since 1990, Bearwood Lakes is eminently playable and rewarding with many exciting challenges from alltees. The surrounding forest is full of colour and delight throughout the year adding to the pleasure of golf on this beautiful and scenic course.

 The Course

The course was designed by Martin Hawtree, the third generation of a family of golfcourse architects, and one of Europe’s most respected, whose portfolio also includes The Royal Birkdale and Johannesburg Golf Clubs. The course comprises of: 

  • 18 hole 6,850 yard par 72 course.
  • Greens built to USGA specification using the finest Providence bent grass.
  • Three natural lakes totalling 50 acres, featured on six holes.
  • Fully irrigated greens, tees, fairways and surrounds.
  • Hand-cut greens and tees.
  • Extensive practice ground with covered bays.
  • Practice putting green and short game area.
  • 'Halfway House' adjoining the 10th tee.

Getting there

From the M4,  exit at Junction 10 and take A329(M) towards Reading. Take first exit at Winnersh Triangle (also sign-posted Park & Ride, Multiplex and Cinema). Follow signs towards Winnersh on A329 for 1/2 mile. Turn right at main crossroads and traffic lights by Texaco garage & Sainsburys. Turn left at mini roundabout into Bearwood Road. Pass Walter Arms Pub and Church on left. Bearwood Lakes is 300 yards on right.
